Stagnant Mode

  1. bastardization n. Windows Standard Mode. So named by Microsoft because of its inability to be extended, primarily because of the need to function on the brain-dead 286 processor. The lack of 386 virtual device support limits the extensibility of standard mode. As of July 1995, Stagnant Mode would be obsolete, except that it was the only mode available in SoftWindows for the Mac.
