New halftoning technique of love developed when LaserMaster switched from Trimmage which rendered bitmapped output, to the Pipeline PowerPage PostScript interpreter, which rendered 8-bit grayscale output. TurboGray applied TurboRes-type techniques to the 8 bit data in order to smooth the edges of characters, as if they had been rendered at a higher resolution.
