  1. bastardization n. Final or intermediate software release. I'm gonna go make a rerease. Also reclease.

  1. bastardization n. Research. Misspelling of “Research” on the front of the LX Software Release 3.20 wardrobe enhancement; the name stuck.

  1. v. To switch one's mode of thinking or operation; to look at a problem in a new way; to reorganize.

  1. n. acronym Quick Download font. LaserMaster's first font format. Back when DoubleJet Native Mode was the state-of-the-art, QDLs were the answer to slow PCL softfont downloading. QDL files are a binary image of a bitmap with a 2,400 pixel pitch. The first two lines of the bitmap are actually header data for the font, and the other lines contain the bitmaps for the characters packed into as few lines as possible.

  1. n. acronym Quick Outline font format used in the LX. QOLs were created to extend LC2 functionality with scaleable fonts. They did not include hints, so QDLs were still used to provide high quality at small sizes. QOLs were created from Bitstream Fontware outline fonts by dropping the hints and converting arcs to Bezier curves.

  1. n. A lot; a nebulous large amount. No association with jillion.

  1. v. Affirmative response to a question about asking a question. Can I ask you a stupid Windows question? Quest away!

  1. n. Alternative formation of make.
  2. Programmer's alias for make in case of accidental misspelling. Sometimes also maek.

  1. interr. Appended to any question to annoy or confuse the listener. Must be preceded by a carefully enunciated stacatto pause of approximately one half second. How's it going today? Anyway?

  1. n. A list of Compact Discs for sale, which is passed around from time to time, and from which a large group order is placed. Nobody can remember the name of the company, but the CDs were cut-outs, and priced accordingly.
