  1. v. To delete all files and subdirectories in Transfer, as in rm -r; periodic maintenance maneuver to conserve file server disk space. If the person blowing away Transfer is not being a gunkie or a foofoo(2), a five-minute warning via network broadcast message may precede the removal of the data.

  1. n. Any directory ending in TRANSFER, as in N:TRANSFER or, more popularly, R:TRANSFER. Temporary holding place while transferring program and data files between machines because Dick’s Operating System is broken. Throw it up in Transfer. Files in Transfer are considered volatile and may hence disappear without warning (see blow away Transfer).

  2. Where Macintosh software engines put stuff they don't want QA to log bugs against.

  1. n. The Macintosh DropBox of Love for new and neat programs from the outside world.

  1. n. A nebulous amount, as in It cost n dollars, where n is greater than twenty-five.

  2. A nebulous and sometimes flippant answer to a non-Boolean question, for example: When are you leaving? n. How do you feel today? n. Why did you do that? n.

  1. n. A group lunch honoring an LMer who is leaving voluntarily (aka committing suicide). Traditionally held at Fuddrucker's, where the small four-person tables can be lined up into a single, long N-person table.

  1. n. An area of Eden Prairie encompassing the LaserMaster campus and much of Sturdy Oak Road; said because the entire area will consist solely of LM-owned or operated buildings by the year 1997. Editor's note: This was just a little over-optimistic

  1. n. A freeway passing through Laser Prairie. Name originated from a mass-mailing piece that JohnM received.

  1. n. A Canon laser marking engine. The native resolution of this engine was 300 or 400 dpi. Enhanced to print 1000x400 dpi TurboRes®. by LaserMaster.

  1. n. Endearing term, chiefly used in greeting, as in Hey, swingage. Less obnoxious than smelly butt; used alternatively when manglers are in the area.
